Very nice. Bringing the diesel will be huge. I read it will be available in all trim levels. The 302hp v6 will be a great option too.

Wink

Not much of a Chevy fan but back in the day (84)
I had a S-10 with a 2.2 liter Isuzu diesel with a 4 speed. It was a nice truck and got 30 mpg overall.....

this is nothing new, look at other countries Isuzu Dmax. its a Colorado with an Isuzu diesel. they are just importing them now, or assembling them here with Isuzu motors. i had a Canyon (GMC version) and it was the biggest POS ever owned. Granted 90% of the break downs were engine related (2.8L gas Anchor, i mean Atlas motor). After the motor was rebuilt TWICE at 13,100 and 13, 200 miles...yeah 100 miles and BOOM...the interior electronics and manual trans went. the trans was from GM putting to thick of an oil in the truck when new, causing it to MELT 3rd gear...traded it for a Toyota Tacoma and havent looked back. now Nissan and Toyota are looking at diesels in the US.

Ford needs to bring the ranger back. Give us the diesel option. The F-150 needs a diesel as well.

Compared to the GM and Dodge small truck offerings, the Ranger had a cab that was too small. My son-in-law bought a Dodge specifically because the cab was so much roomier than the Ranger.

If Ford is forced to build a small truck again, they should start with a clean sheet of paper and build on which is roomier inside and offer their 4.4L diesel, made in Mexico that they sell to Range Rover.

You know Ford isn't going to be the first to bring this mini diesel truck to US market. It's always the brand you don't want to buy, like Dodge.

I remember waiting YEARS for a Toyota V-8 and finally gave up waiting after seeing it for the first time it was wrapped in such a blah and cheaply made platform. Did the sensible thing and bought a F150.

1/2 ton Ford diesel bending over for EPA for the US market- good luck with that.

Found the Car & Driver review. Still a pretty basic write-up.

Not that it is a big deal but GM isn't using Isuzu diesels in these trucks for some reason. They are built by VM Motori Italy. Not sure if that is significant due to some kinda issues with Isuzu? Does GM even build their own diesel power plants anymore? I know they sold off Detroit Diesel to Daimler AG.

Also the newer Canyon/Colorado issues seem to be having a much shorter problems list...some leaks and wonky shifts...but to be honest not much more than what you would hear from any other mfgr bringing out a new model.

Hate to say it but if Ford doesn't get their act together with a 3.2 PS or 2.0 EB powered Ranger in 2-3 years then I might be trading in for a new Colorado/Canyon...I can comprende a bit of spanish and go to the Ford.mx website and have built a Ranger down there...had one decked out with dual zone AC and all the other bells and whistles for a bit less than 29 grand US. I'd pay that plus the 3-4 grand upfit for the 3.2 Powerstroke option.

The oil burner is only available in the crew cab trucks. With a few options, you are near $40,000. You can buy a full size for far less, as they offer discounts and deals etc. No deals on the Colorado/Canyon as they are selling well.

Current new truck plan: Hold off....

All vehicles should be offered with a diesel alternative. I think a compact truck like a Ranger or Colorado with a relatively, massive straight 6 or V8 turbo diesel would be awesome. Tons of torque, great fuel economy. It'd be kinda fun
