Just inherited a 2000, F250 with V10 shift on the fly 4X4 automatic. This may be a dumb question for those of you who are long time ford truck enthusiasts, but I'm new to the experience and need some help. The front wheels have been painted, thus obliterating the indicators that show where the hubs are set. I'd like to know if the bar always turns clock wise (on both driver and passenger sides) to be set in the "auto" position. The manual doesn't seem to address this question; as it shows only one picture.

Lefty loosey, righty tighty...............even with hubs. Right (clockwise) locks the hub. Left (counter clockwise, or anti-clockwise if you're in the UK) is AUTO.

 

get some paint now and paint the work lock and the arrow.

Yes, the hubs are interchangeable from side to side.
