Picked up head bolts yesterday. Now I have to wait to get money for the other head gasket, oil, oil filter, trans fluid, coolant, and other small things like that. That's fine though I still have to clean up the new engine, pull the heads off mine, pull my old engine, clean up my engine compartment, take the top end off the new engine, install the oil pump, and a few other small things.

Plus I have a little bit of work to do on my brother's ranger and my explorer so all is good.

Was lucky enough to get some money to get a head gasket. So now just time to start tearing into the engine and swapping it out. Once I get the new engine in the truck I will get oil, coolant, oil filter, and auto trans fluid.

well tore the heads off, intake, oil pan, and a few more things. Cleaned up the cylinder walls went to turn the engine and nothing. Looks like I need a complete rebuild. Going to hopefully tear it down more today.

Looking at this above post and seeing his previous posts I think a moderator may want to check this user out. He keeps repeating peoples previous posts.

Pulled the engine that was in the truck out and found the oil pump driveshaft at the bottom of the pan covered in gunk about half of the oil pan. Also found the rod bearing and part of the cylinder wall. The block is done for so hopefully this one is rebuild able otherwise time to get a crate.

Well brought in the block from my buddy to the machine shop and they told me it needs bored at least .030 over. I told him let me know if it goes over .030 over as I don't want it over .030 over.
Verdict of everything I need:
rebuild kit
cam and lifters (staying stock as that's all that is in the budget right now)
rebuild heads (again staying E7TEs)
new water pump
motor mounts
transmission mount
polish the crank (he said it looks great otherwise)

So over the months I will be slowly rebuilding the engine.

Well block needs to go over .030 so going to try .040 if it can be done at .040 then going to go with it if not then I just payed $100 + the machine shop for nothing and I am going to not be the happiest guy around.

Well good news he was able to bore it over .040s go to pick up the engine today!
So I went from a 302 to a 306 to a 308 before even installing the 306 or building it. LOL
Machine shop says .040s is going to be DD safe so I guess I will find out once I get her back together.

Well a few pictures of some things right now.
The heads after cleaning them up (still stock E7TEs that I am going to rebuild) (I know have all the valve springs, valves, and rocker arms off.)

White Lightnin' without an engine (I haven't gotten any pics yet of the engine since having it baked and bored):

rings are on the way. Moly rings were ordered.
Pistons will be on the way after the 21st as they aren't in stock.

Ordered them from Summit racing. I have to say those guys are awesome! Helped us all the way till we were ready to order.

A member here (unfortunately for some reason I can't remember his name) told me about summit and since I have been going their to check prices. This is our first order through them though.

Pistons are suppose to be here today rings tomorrow or Friday. How in the world that happened I have no idea but not complaining at all.

Are they shipping them from different warehouses? I know Rock Auto does that and I wind up with things come in piecemeal for a week.

My pistons are coming from the manufacturer because they weren't in stock.

Got bad news guys. I ordered the wrong pistons and rings. So now when they get here I have to send them back. I didn't notice that they were for a 60-70s car and not a light duty F150.
