Opinion on the 6.7 Diesel

Thinking about buying a new 2014 6.7. I have a couple friends that own them, but don't tow. How is the mileage not towing and towing and how much have you pulled. I have a friend getting 16+ in town and 20 on the highway doing 80. Any input would be great. Also, what are the average maintenance costs to keep one of these up?

Thanks
Pat

Those trucks sure are nice but I cant see how anyone would willingly reduce there net worth by $60k or more for a truck.

Because we are lucky enough (worked hard enough!) that we can and SO FAR, we still have SOME free choice here in the states

Was just thinking this morning how much I like the new truck and how trouble free it's been !

MPG was/is never a concern for me - if it's needed, I use it...
(after all - had 3 "Exxon Valdez" Excursions before my pickups )

it's been towing heavy all day long for me without any issues....

around 17 avg no trailer, but i have 315 70 17 (34in tires) so i could probably do better if it were not for that. I personally do not find the maintenance cost terrible, i do all the oil changes and fuel filter changes myself. i just filled the DEF tank up for the last time cause H&S is about to take care of that little issue. i really don't think you would regret getting the truck, three years and 52k later i sure dont. <O</O<O</O

Pretty much my experience after 5k miles. Maybe a tad lower on the hwy, low 18's at 70.

Same weight trailer as senix (15.5k) and get 10 on average, doing 65.

For comparison, my older 7.3 would pull between 18-19 on the highway empty (I got 20 a couple times at 65 empty) and 9 to 9.5 towing same trailer (rare occasions would touch 10).

Both trucks are automatics, 4x2s and 3.73 rear ends.

I can get 18-19 on the Interstate while empty and controlling my lead foot in my dually. When I strap the 5er on, then I drop to 8-10 mpg. But then of course, I am grossed out at 30K. So I don't figure that's too bad.

Totally not impressed with that towing mileage. Thought diesel would get much better towing. My gas 2010 5.4l f150 got 13 towing 9500 pounds at 65mph! The diesel does better empty though. I've only got 2500 miles on mine so far. Only pulled once in a30mph wind and got 10, was hoping the wind was a major factor but your numbers don't give me much hope, lol
