05, 5.4 triton, SPARK PLUG REPLACEMENT

05, 5.4 triton, SPARK PLUG REPLACEMENT
2005, f-150, 5.4 liter 3 valve, 110k miles, first time plugs have been changed.
I've thought and planned and worried about this endeavor since I bought the truck in early September. Reading all the posts on FTE were most helpful! The repair manual wasn't. Saturday morning I pulled the truck in the garage and started removing coils. While it was still warm I poured about an ounce of Sea Foam injector cleaner in the plug pit. (FIRST mistake (I think)! I couldn't find the Motorcraft brand so I improvised. According to the post's the Motorcraft brand works better than what I used.)
When it cooled down I attempted to loosen the plugs about 1/4 turn. Some went better than others. Let it soak for 2 hours checked each plug for snugness. waited 2 hours checked again. 1 plug came out at this point. At 6 hours started getting wormy. started working plugs in and out 1/4 turn at a time. repeated process for each plug and 4 more came out. 1 plug came out with ceramic but left the casing in the hole. Then 3 broke off leaving half of the ceramic! CRAP! (SECOND mistake (I think) might have been worth it to leave overnight but I'll never know now.)
All plugs out, 4 needed extraction. Bought the LISLE TOOL, LIS65600 "broken spark plug removal tool" (specific to this engine). This thing is AWESOME! $74 at Speedway Auto Parts and worth every penny! I followed instructions and it worked just like it is suppose to and extracted the remaining 4 plugs.
8 1/2 hours to change 8 plugs

NOTE: I did not want the ounce of injector cleaner running down in the cylinder so before removing each plug I sucked it out with a syringe then blew remainder out with compressed air. The casings that were extracted (after 6-7 hours of soaking) were completely dry and really caked with deposits. Maybe the MC cleaner or leaving it overnight would have freed it up but I have my doubts.
NOTE 2: This LISLE tool worked so well I suggest you have it on hand. If not used then return it. It was refreshing for a tool to be well made and work as intended. This $74 tool saved me $1000, $1500, who knows what dealer would have charged.
