That insulation may be better than what I did. I had some dynamat left over from doing the interior of the truck, so I covered the S&B with it. It didn't make much difference, or so I thought. I have been having what I thought was a boost leak, but never found it until I stopped at the shop that does most of my work, and sure enough, they found it. The connection at the turbo was not seated right. So, now my truck is quieter, doesn't smoke near as bad, (it really rolled the coal, which I hated) and has a lot more gettyup! The dynamat I'm sure is great at eliminating vibration noise, but the whistle, I can see insulation being a better remedy for that.

 

I'm thinking about getting one of these but my questions are:
1, would the snorkel interfere with a coolant bypass filter at all that I have mounted right next to the OEM snorkel?
2, is the intake tube long enough to go from the filter to the turbo or only half way?

 

The intake tube goes halfway. It clamps to the bracket that the PCV hose goes to above the valve cover.

 

The plastic is pretty thin on the older ones.
