EPA proposes reducing biofuel mandate | Fox News

Thank god. Even though we might not see that much, it's nice to see.

I wouldn't hold my breathe, Big corn is a huge lobby and they'll get 15%+ pushed through IMO. Corn price is about half what it was at the peak a few years ago and a lot of land was over bought on those higher projected prices. I finally bit the bullet and upgraded so everything I drive daily is a FFV so at least they can handle the increased ethanol when they raise it again.

No loss.
Ethanol is a net loss as far as energy is concerned.
Sick of giving tax money to industry.

Where is butanol in all this?

I don't know if it will change too but luckily I can get ethanol free gas here. It's a bit better but not much.

Ethanol, a waste of good farming land, giving away free money and the return is less than minimum. EPA just goes were the wind blows, military industrial and commercial complex. Period.

The carbon print of ethanol is as great or greater than oil itself.

wait.. what? did you read the article?

The Obama administration on Friday proposed to reduce the amount of ethanol in the nation's fuel supply for the first time, acknowledging that the biofuel law championed by both parties in 2007 is not working as well as expected.
the epa wanted to REDUCE the amount of ethnol required by law - most older vehicle owners would consider that a good thing.

Cornohol is nothing now but welfare for farmers.

Now that infrastructure and production is in place, remove the mandate and let it compete in the market. The US has vast reserves of oil and CNG and is no longer dependent on Persian Gulf oil though we protect it to maintain global prices.
