Hey Folks,

I'm just curious to know what exactly not having the EBPV sensor hooked could do to my truck.

I know this is a common mod/delete however here's my situation. Years back I was swinging a wrench or it might have been my hand...(I think I was using a strap wrench to open the fuel filter housing and when it gave free I smacked the top of the electrical connector and broke it off) so I haven't had it connected in a long while. Since then I swear my fuel mileage went down. I never noticed a drop in power so I think it's safe to say the actual EBPV isn't stuck shut or anything like that.

So my question is this... would not having that sensor connected somehow set the engine ecu into some kind of "limp" mode or something of that sorts that could make my fuel mileage drop?

I have a few other potential "things" that might contribute to my fuel mileage loss but just trying to eliminate one thing at a time.

I could just replace the part since I found them on eBay for like $50 but I'd rather invest that $50 into something else I need to maintain on the truck.

No sir, it doesn't change anything a far as the truck runs.

 

On a stock 7.3 program its sole purpose is for control of the ebp valve. When the backpressure goes above..... 30 psi I think...... it opens the valve. I've been told that custom program writers such as dp tuner and tony wildman use it for fuel control but I have never verified that.

 

I've tested it with and with out the sensor (new sensor) and never noticed a difference.

My scan gauge was not reading the sensor so I replaced it. I didn't notice any difference.

 

no worries about EBPV.If disconnected it will default in the open mode anyway. I didn't like the wooshing sucking sound on cold days, so I unplugged it. No issues no CEL. I actually plugged it back in this week cause its supposed to help in the warm up. still works after being unplugged for 2 years
