03 F-150 FX4 or 05 F-150 XLT
My 98 is a little over 250,000 miles, really rusty underneath, runs and drives well, but now have a heater core and radiator plugged up due to leaks and probably have a head gasket issue. I'm old enough to know it's "time" and not try to save it. Found a gorgeous 03 FX4 fully loaded almost like new...71,000 miles.....$11,500. Found an 05 with 102,000 miles...$11,500. Found an 05 with 122,000 miles $10,900. All are super cab with 6.5 box. I am trying to set up times to go see all three. All are private owners. I really like the looks of the 03 still with the "round body". I know the motors changed somewhat in 04 so I don't know much about them. If anyone has had both generations I would greatly appreciate any input. It will be used for working hauling around stuff in the bed and on the rack, but no towing. Same way my 98 was used and it was fine for what I do.
Thanks a lot!

I'd buy the '03 and wouldn't think twice. I had an '05, that I bought new and ended up selling it to buy a used '03 Lariat. The '05 3v 5.4L had crap for power and I didn't care for the comfort of the interior. Seats were hard, they used really poor quaity carpet, and the armrests are way too low.
I love my '03. Great looking, powerful and comfortable.

I was in the same boat 6 months ago. Ended up buying a 2002 SCrew with 100K for $8K. Could have easily bought something newer, but i like the older body style. Son says im crazy, but its my truck..... Would be worth talking to the 2003 SCab guy about lowering the price a little. At 10 years old he will have a little less visitors.

It is top dollar. I would like to pay a little less simply due to the fact it is almost 11 years old. But if it's as nice as the pics. show and infact is in excellent shape I would fork it over ( or at least close).
