You route it to the vacuum tree or drill a hole in the side of the plenum as the factory design causes #8 to run hot evidently. There is plenty of info out there on the problem.

Oh, you have fuel injection. I think it causes the plug to foul, not run hot does it?
The best place is somewhere it can be evenly distributed to all cylinders. I have never investigated this, but near to the throttle body would probably be best. But like you said, other people have already figured it out.
Usually when you have a hole to plug, and need it to stay, most of the time there is a freeze plug that can be driven in and will fit. I am not sure one will fit the hole you have, but they seem to make a lot of different sizes, one may fit.
