drivers side front disc brake was not working

Hi My name is Larry Johns. I live in Corpus Christi Tx. I just bought a 98 Expedition 2wd. Eddie Baurer . after I bought it I discovered that the drivers side front disc brake was not working. What I found was that brake fluid was not going through the 4wdabs unit for that brake. the right side works and there are no codes. I bought a used abs unit but am unable to get abs unit to bleed properly. also when it rains water pours out of the overhead counsel and drips into the left cupholder in the center counsel. It doesn't have a sun roof.

If you open the bleeder screw on the driver's caliper, will fluid come out as the brake pedal is pressed?

yes it will now I had to replace the 4wdabs unit but brakes are still spongy after beading them twice.

I usually have to use a power bleeder whenever I've changed the ABS unit. There's just too many passages in those to get away with normal bleeding procedures. In the absents of having a power bleeder, tap the ABS unit to shake the air bubbles loose, also try bleeding then (if safe to do so) take a short drive over a bumpy road, then bleed again. The bouncing and shaking from the drive will cause small air bubbles to join together to form larger air bubbles. The larger air bubbles are easier to get out of the system.
