Timing?

Timing?
O.K. I have had the 94 F150 300 truck back up and running for over a week. Two issues I am having. I timed it with a timing light. I pulled the jumper off before timing it. I set the timing light to 10 degrees. Then timed it. At higher speeds, when I accelerate it sounds like my valves are rattling ever so slightly.. Any suggestions?
Next problem. If I drive it for 15 to 20 minutes, shut it off. I have a hard time starting it again. Like the battery has been drained. The battery cable get warm to the touch when I try to start it. I had the battery, alternator and starter all tested. They test perfect. If I let it set for 20 to 30 minutes it will start right up. This is a new problem. It started right after I did all the work on it. Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Jeff

That could make a difference..........
And...... the 4.9's rely on the single block ground at the starter bolt.
You may want to clean up the grounds (for no other reason than to eliminate a ground problem) at the starter, terminal lug at the starter, negative battery post, and the negative battery post clamp and examine cabling for any signs of corrosion (both positive and negative cables).
Good conductive grounds are essential for the 4.9's

Thank for all who posted. I did follow the links and tried them. What I ended up doing. Timed it by ear. It now runs like a bat out of hell. Very happy. The mark must be off. I really don't know how it could be. I just couldn't get it right with the timing light.
Anyway Thank all of you. Will post my next project. Getting the front gas tank you work.
