These fit '48-'50. This is one for a Mercury the only difference is that the Ford one is has a painted faceplate. The corners of my radio dash openings (thanks PO) needs repair

Another one from a Mercury car (46-48 I believe). I was lucky enough to find it at a swap meet. Now it's in another FTE'rs truck.

Mounting brackets are different between the Mercury and the Ford.

51panelman, I see another one is missing the tube cover.

Does anyone have a tube cover for the 48-50 style radio? I'm looking for one!

Bob J. did a nice write up on how to install a Mercury radio in a Ford truck. It's on his website, I believe.

As forthe covers. If I had the radio long enough, I would have attempted to make the covers out of thin sheet metal. The bends appear to be simple enough to recreate.

Making the cover(s) may be your only options since finding this radio is hard enough. Finding the covers by themselves would probably be even more harder.

Is that just the tuner? Or is it tuner and amp with only a separate speaker? Many early "radios" are just a giant tuner head and the amp and speaker is in an even bigger box. I'm not sure on these what all is involved.

Hey I recognize that radio :P

One other difference I am pretty sure of besides chrome. Button count, the 48 truck (beige) was also only 5 buttons. The Mercury car (49) is 6 buttons.

There's a place that sells new repop ones (6 button) for $549 - no typo, that is what I actually typed: five hundred fifty....

On a 52 F-1 how does the speaker mount?
Does it take a special box or does it mount to the screws that hold the dash chrome on and mount flat against the wire mesh behind the speaker dash grill.
I bought an aftermarket 12 v. radio but don't know what to do about the speaker.
Hate to put them in the side panels.

48-51 Ford car radios are the same for 51-52 Ford trucks. There are still some minor differences between the radios, but the overall design is the same.

46-48 Merc and 48-50 Ford truck radios are same in design.

They are both 6 button as the on/off isn't removable.

And here is the brackets for the 48-50
