I am replacing the engine and tranny with a 302 and c4...i have a strait axle and original steering. What headers will work ? I searched the threads but could not come up with the answer.
Thanks in advance.

I have a 351c with a c4

The standard cast iron manifolds work nicely.

That said - I think most shorty headers will fit into the same space as the iron ones.

Thanks. I believe 5.0l and 302 shorty headers are one and the same...is that correct?

Unless you have the GT40P heads used on some Explorers, they are the same.

If you are talking about the mount that goes between the C4 and the crossmember, this is the one I used:

Anchor 2253 - Transmission Mount | O'Reilly Auto Parts

It was in stock at my local O'Reilly's and Napa. Any decent auto parts store should be able to get it for you.

Try your local Part Source. They should be less expensive than NAPA or Canadian Tire. Good Luck, Let us know how it goes, and get some pic's.

I have a 351 and C6, and I'm using the stock manifolds that came with the 351. Remember when purchasing headers, that mustang headers won't work as the drivers side there is clearance issues with the gear box. Found out the hard way, I have a really nice pair of chrome small block ford headers that I can't use because of the gear box. Passenger side not a problem. You need to find some headers that drop similar to the stock between the 3rd and 4th cylinders.

SBF headers are the same unless you have speciality heads. It is the chassis that they are made for that is different. It is the width of the motor that will cause most issues, so because they don't fit in a 351 truck does not mean they won't fit a 302 truck. When I had my stock front suspension, early Mustang headers fit with no problems.

Will begin engine transplant tomorow...thought we would take the entire front clip off for easier access ... Anyone have any thoughts / observations or suggestions on this procedure ?

If you havent already I would remove the trans cover from the bottom of the cab floor. You may or may not have clearance.
