The people here are all volunteers. They don't point guns and force anyone to use any specific oil. They aren't grabbing your arm, or fining you $500 for not signing up to purchase oil from the same manufacturer. It's natural to argue when they 'believe' they are right. Who argues when they KNOW they are wrong? lol I was educated by roadrunner01 (I think that was his name) on using 10w30 oil. I already made up my mind to use 5w40 because EVERYONE recommends it. Truth be told, MOST recommended it simply because someone else recommended it. So if you open up your mind and allow more than 1 opinion to fill it up, you will eventually form your own conclusion as to what is best for your circumstances.

I disagree. I dont' think it's a tangent at all. We are all still talking about oil. The topic is "5w40 thoughts & suggestions". I never knew the 14 vs 16 quarts so I will pay attention to this next time. I just blindly added 15 each oil change. I learned something new. Arguments make this site ripe for learning. If everyone agreed all the time, then we'd have guys running around putting Lucas Oil Stabilizer and SeaFoam in with each oil change. That would be 'sounding' like the freaking government. Ironic also that you would tell people that they shouldn't talk about certain things here. That's a dictatorship right?

It was here... (posted below) bismic posted the link, and I read the 14 quarts here. Someone mentioned that MAX was 15 quarts. 18 was for a BONE DRY, so we again have a discrepancy. I think that's why I will pay attention more during an oil change. Something I would not have done had there not been an "argument".
