Well, Doc is sending a very nice set of aluminum buckets from a 1949 F-1. Sent pictures, and other than some of the expected staining, they look great, much better than what is on Gertie now.

Thanks Doc, and to all the other FTE'ers that do so much to forward this hobby.

Ilya, never fear, I am sure I will get around to getting into your parts stash.

Much as I aspire to live on a spread as spectacular as his and be the accommodating host I understand him to be, I'm doomed to my own identity. I'm sure Doc and I look alike though.

Glad my spare buckets are headed for Gertie.

What's up, DOC? Sorry, couldn't resist....

Remembering names is a real problem for me, I've always had that problem. On here I remember folks by their truck mostly....

God Duane, what an idiot I am!

Early onset CRS dementia.

Duane, Doc, Duane..... Too many "D's".

Yes, its Forty Niner who is providing the buckets.

So JD, you want too many Ds? I'm one of eleven sibs all Ds. Like every mother with kids that needed to be hollered at, there were times when Ma went through several before arriving at the right one.

Well Doc and I do both have black F1s...

I can relate, mom thought it great sport to name my two brothers and I with the same initials as dad, JDL. Problem was, all aunts and uncles, plus most of the cousins on dad's side were either D or J. What a mess.

The main reason for this post is to pubicly give a great big thanks to FortyNiner for supplying a very nice, original, pair of headlamp buckets for Gertie. Unlike my set, these show virtually no damage from corrosion, only minor pitting. Between the "new" buckets, and parts from mine, I will have nearly new headlights. Even though the buckets from FortyNiner are in fantastic condition, I will go ahead and paint them silver after blasting them. This will cover any staining of the metal, and provide an added layer of protection from corrosion while maintaining an original appearance.

Thanks FortyNiner! No good deed should go unpunished.
