Long flat "washers" on valve covers

I had a pretty massive oil leak on my 6.9 and discovered that two of the valve cover bolts had completely come out and were missing. The bolts have some long flat washers that help hold/spread the valve cover over a larger area of gasket.

Anyone have a source for these? I need 2.

I don't know if you can get them from an auto parts store but Chevy uses the same type of setup on some of there older trucks. Just a thought if they'll work not sure of bolt size on the valve covers of your bolts but the Chevy is a quarter inch.

I don't like the valve cover washers on the IDI. They're weak.

Do you use them anyway or do you have an alternative?

Saw these on Ebay but way too much $$$$ also unsure of size even if I had that much to blow.

I formed mine to have the desired bend on my anvil, then fired them in my forge to a bright red heat, then quenched in veggie oil, then refired to a dull red heat and let them cool in sand. Then I installed them.

IIRC, my '62 Falcon with a 144 I6 had a superior washer design.

The first pic is what I was thinking of but the second set looks like they would cover more and provide better clamping force on the gasket being that they are longer . What's the bolt diameter on these engines never had a valve cover off yet .

I'm going to order a set (4) of the second ones (the wider of the two) to see if they can be made to work on a 6.9 valve cover. Will report back once they come and I can compare.

Edit - I ordered 4 of these which were much cheaper than the edlebrock. 5/16" bolt holes.

Got them in a couple days ago and it looks like they will be a good fit for the side bolts. The ones I have are kinda shaped like a [ turned on its side. The bolt is in the center. I will add a small washer so that the cinch points look more like a m instead of an n. Same size bolt hole opening as OEM clamps.
