Usually when doing body work, grounds are a problem. I am going to assume yours is fuel injected. If your large ground has a problem, sometimes the starter tries to use one of the smaller grounds. I believe the fuel injected trucks have a smaller ground coming off the ground cable at the battery and going around behind and bolted to the metal fender and or going on to the computer for it's ground.

Look around the battery really good, you might have to pull it out, and see if you have a melted ground wire in that area. If you do repair it, and then check your large ground from the battery to the engine block and make sure it's good and hooked up.
