Gross Vehicle Weight ?

My F-100 Door Plate reads Max. G.V.W. LBS 05000
What is that 1/2 Ton, 3/4 Ton ???
People ask me if it's a 1/2 Ton and I don't know what to tell them.
Thanks

F100 = 1/2 ton truck
F150 = 1/2 ton truck
You have a 1/2 ton truck, if you have 5 lugs, = 1/2 ton, 8 lugs = 3/4 ton.

The Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) is the maximum weight of the vehicle and all it's cargo, including occupants, gas, load and anything else.
The GVW can vary depending on factory installed springs, tires, etc. It is a rating assigned by the manufacture for the rig as it left the factory.
