223 Road Draft Tube

What's inside road draft tube on a 223? I was reading another thread about oil coming out of vent on top of a 292? and someone said to see if filter in tube was clogged. Is there a filter inside road draft tube on 223? Number Dummy, Please help if you can.

Actually called the "crankcase ventilation tube", but has been given other names as road draft tube, driveway oiler tube etc... Originally they had a screen in them.

Does the whole thing need to come off engine to get at screen? It seems what appears to be a lid is stuck on when I remove wing bolt

The road draft/crankcase ventilation tube was an old crude method of ventilation IMHO. I changed mine over to a PCV back in 1975 and have never looked back. I'm not concerned with the truck being 100% original.
