At one of my stores I swapped out canopy lights. They were using over 500 watts per fixture, (30 fixtures) to 110 watts per fixture. I save roughly $900-$1000 a month on my electric bill.

Assuming you meant you are saving $900-$1000 on just the canopy lights replacement alone, you are leaving them on for 522 hours a month or an avg of 17 hours a day (if my math is correct).... is this a gas station?

That's great savings!... The question is what was your initial investment?

I also swapped out all the recessed lights in my house (~30 fixtures) for the 10W Crees from Home Depot. Luckily I bought most of them when BGE (local utility supplier) was subsidizing their cost ($25 each rather than $35 each). I doubt I will see the energy payback in the time that I own the house, but I hope to see the payback given their longer life expectancy (I should never have to change them....ever lol)

Back to the OPs original question. I currently have my light bar connected to one of my upfitter switches but I don't like that configuration. I often find myself cruising down back roads with my light bar on, when I see a car coming in the distance I have to lean forward and switch the upfitter off, which is not a natural motion.

When I can find time, Ill be interlocking a relay so that the light bar will only be "on" with the upfitter switch "on" AND my hi-beams "on." This way I can activate the light bar with the multifunction switch, but also lock out the bar with the upfitter.

another slight hijack..

I would love to do a 20in bar, but we have front license plates.
so have been considering 2 4/6/8 inch bars, one on each side of the plate.
I like my fogs, so won't replace those.

they also make a plate that fits behind the license plate, with a mounting surface on top. I just hate to have the light bar exposed like that.

anyone done the 2 lights?

Another few options I just came across last night:

2011-2013 Ford F-250 / F-350 Super Duty XLT / Lariat / King Ranch - Torch Series LED Light Grille (Will not fit base model XL work trucks w/ utility grille or models equipped with towing package and transmission cooler) (For off-road use only) [63154

Rigid Industries LED Grilles, OE LED Grilles, Ford LED Grilles, F-250 / F-350 LED Grilles, Super Duty LED Grilles

There is a third company that just came out with one, but I can't find it at the moment.

I'm not a big fan of the Rigid grille, it looks a little too home-made.
The T rex would look good with out the giant "Xmetal" emblem IMO

Expensive, but if you don't totally love the super duty grille, it could be an option.

looks like I need to relocate the plate below the opening so that I can use a single combo flood/spot bar.

M&R used to sell a 6" Elite mini light bar that two would fit perfectly, one on each side of the plate. You would have to fab a bracket but there is plenty of room for that.

I wound up using them for another project because the 30" bar rendered them un-necessary, but they are an option.

Here are a few pics from the M&R website that show them on a Raptor but up near the "A" pillars.

They are not showing up on the website right now but give Michael a call there and he can probably tell you when they will be back in stock. He's a good guy with great prices.

I hope this is just a mock up with the light bar zip tied to that crossover tube.

Just found this pic of a truck I saw at a gas station awhile back, not my preferred mounting, but it works.

Zip ties were temporary while I was lining it up and installing.

It is mounted behind a T-REX mesh black grille.

Is that just a stock photo off of a website? I wanted to see what the bar looked like behind the grille.
