2015 Superduty

2015 Ford F-series Super Duty Photos and Info – News – Car and Driver

If this is old news then please forgive me. There's a nice towing video on Ford that demonstrates how the much improved 6.7L will fair against the competetion.

Ford has yet to reveal the actual power numbers of the 2015 6.7L not can find the max towing numbers but, Ram has managed to squeak out 24K pounds as a max. I'm sure Ford will come close if not exceed.

I am a little disappointed that the body didn't change at all. It's due.

There are a couple of other threads on here about them Tim but it's no biggie.

The rumored redesign is supposed to be for the 2016 model year. How extensively they revamp it though is anybody's guess. Right now the RAM has the biggest towing numbers as it's rated for 30k maximum with a gooseneck or fifth wheel. I'm betting when Ford releases their numbers, they'll at least try to match that. They're going back with the 19.5" wheels and the Dana S110 rear axle on the F-450 for 2015.

I'm anxious to see the power numbers. They've got the Cummins by 15HP but they're behind it by 50 FT/LB of torque. I'd be surprised if they don't come out with a seven or eight speed automatic in the 2016 or 2017 models.

That has to be the first time I have ever seen the word "defecates" in a new vehicle press release.

In Ford's towing video, The F-350 was using 4.30 axles, the Ram 4.10 and the GM 3.73.

Ford and GM are jointly developing a 10 speed trans for the their respective half tons that will debut in the hopeful near future, I'll be surprised if a heavier version of that one isn't used in the SD's.

Good news gives me more time to pay off my current truck.

I'd be curious how close they will get or exceed it by.

Getting into this territory though (30K and up) has its issues though.

Eventually they would need to transition to a true jake brake and air brakes imho.

That...for the average consumer is a no go.

So...I don't think they can do much more.

X2 my dealer said 2016, give it a year to let them figure out any bugs. Maybe I'll look at them in 2017

The SD trans will be an 8 speed model.

A buddy of mine works at the Livonia transmission plant, he says ten speed in two years. He said it was going to be a 8 speed until the Ram came out with there's so Ford decided to blow that off and go for the 10 speed.

Was your friend talking about the F150 or Super Duty? Reason I ask is because the only eight speed in the Ram is in the half ton 1500 series. While it may well be true, I'd be surprised if Ford jumped from the current 6R140 straight into a ten speed auto for the SD.

No gas engine changes I see. Wonder what 2016 will bring. Nice to see the 6.7 still has power potential in it though. Wonder how much more Ford can wring out of it?

Hard it say but I feel confident that some form of EcoBoost is going to make its way into the SD line in the very near future.

I would really like to see a 5.0 EB in the Super Duty. I think that would be a nice power/fuel economy combo. Might bring some buyers back to the Super Duty line or new buyers to Ford that shied away from newer diesels. I don't know how much it would hurt diesel sales but I don't think a lot (and if it offsets or sales increase then it's a sure winner). I would image the 6.7 would still have better TQ and fuel economy then a 5.0 EB. Plus you have buyers that just want a diesel regardless.

I guess we'll find out if Ford thinks it's viable or not in the next few years.
