2006 E250 Headlights

Have a 2006 E250 (former U-Haul) and the headlights suck. Have changed the headlights a couple of times buy what I'm told are high end bulbs (lights) they last for a very short time and then go "dull". Can ride with hi-beams on and nobody notices. Any ideas that won't break the bank?

I'm with Moosey78 on this----composite H/L's have always seemed more problematic than they're worth to me. If the bulbs aren't having issues then the housing exteriors are faded due weather etc, interior of the face discolored from the effects of heat build up.

Sealed beams are renewed every time they're changed and give me all the legal roadway lighting I need. I dare say most sealed beams last long enough to have received my money's worth.

JWA I keep a stock of sealed beam headlights. Composite headlights do look better when new but you can't be the tried and true sealed beams.

Couldn't agree more the composites look great when brand new---love their aerodynamic look!

Trouble is I'm around near 600 vehicles for my work and have yet to see any one of them over 2 years old that have not yet faded or discolored significantly.

Even the so-called refresh kits don't do much after a short while----most of the fading begins inside.

Thanks for the response, believe the bulbs I'm putting in are seal beam. Seal Beam being what an old guy would have put in in the 60's, 70's? If this is correct what brand or make last the longest and give the best bang for the $$$?. Don't want to be changing headlights every month or so.

Personally I use these:
Amazon.com: Sylvania H6054 ST SilverStar High Performance Rectangular Halogen Headlight Bulb (Low/High Beam), (Pack of 1): Automotive Amazon.com: Sylvania H6054 ST SilverStar High Performance Rectangular Halogen Headlight Bulb (Low/High Beam), (Pack of 1): Automotive

Very happy with them for both light output and longevity too. I don't do a lot of night time driving so they might not last forever---still do a good job for me while they do though.

HTH
