I heard this year was a problem in this regard with bending rods on the 5.4, what years have this issue where the injectors fill the cylinders with fuel and bend the rods.

Also what were the problem areas with these models, don't they have the newer fly by wire electrics?

The 2005 have the leaky injectors. If it has one leaking it will be hard to start and throw codes relating to mixture ( too lean too fat ) or other emission related codes.

Also all the truck from 04+ are fly by wire and even some of the 99+ trucks. I never seen any problems but throttle position getting dirty going back triggering limp home.
