I have a 1965 f100 with a after market fuel tank mounted in the bed of the truck and it needs a new fuel level sending unit. My questions are is there a sending unit that will work in the after market fuel tank and with the original fuel level gauge? Or should I buy a new Fuel level gauge and sending unit? What have you guys done or what would you recommend I do?
Your help is much needed and greatly appreciated.

The sender needs to match the gauge. If an OEM sender will fit, then you can use the stock gauge. An aftermarket sender requires the matching gauge.

BTW, all Ford fuel sender/gauges are compatible from the 50's up to the early 70's.
