Facet Duralift Fuel Pump

I've got one of these things, and I'm debating using it in place of my mechanical lift pump.

I don't like the idea of the mechanical lift pump failing and pumping fuel oil into the crank case, and having steady pressure and priming should be a good thing. I also like the cleanable 50 mircon filter screen and the inspection canister.

What does FTE think?

Does anyone else run these?

It's rated for 9.5-11.5 psi. What does the factory lift pump run, it's something like 3 or 4 right?

I'm going with one of these in the near future, as well. Haven't heard anything but good about them.

That concern seems to be spreading around here, like cavitation, only I'm sure you're more likely to cavitate then have the diaphragm fail like that.
Oh, it can happen, but it's not common.

That is why mine is down the lift pump failed and filled the oil sump with diesel and blew a head gasket before I caught it. but I also had a piece of an old dipstick in the bottom of the tube and I didn’t find that out until I was tearing it down.

Genlightening over on oilburners has a group buy of these for 80 shipped. Just got mine from him . Made bracket and picked up a relay and relay pigtail to wire mine in. Hope to do it tomorrow. Guys over on oilburners seem to agree the 11 psi will just make it like you have advanced it 1 deg. Standard motor makes a relay pigtail part s654 i think to use with the common 4 and 5 pin universal relays.

I bought a couple from Genlightening too. I've got one on my truck right now but my IP took a crap. So I can't tell how well it's going to run with it until I get the IP rebuilt. But the Duralift pump works great.

So is that something like the equivalent of turning up the injection pump allen key a flat?

It times the ignition event just like the distributor timing on a gas engine. Correct ignition timing is huge with these engines with respect to power output, fuel efficiency and ease of starting. You just need to be aware that changing your lift pump pressure will affect your timing, which may need adjustment/correction. Do a search on timing, there are many excellent threads here covering the topic.
