EGR delete questions.

I have a 2006 F250 PWS CC 85k miles. I want the cheap/ reliable fix, are the egr delete kits on eBay good? I see some with egr delete/ up pipe/ and oil cooler pretty cheap, less 300$.

Are they good? Advise on sellers?

Do I need the oil cooler?

Should I do the BPD egr cooler?

Isn't better to get rid of the egr gases. Doesn't that cause the damage? Longevity wise.

Or do I wait until a problem?

I also heard that wielding the freeze caps is not a good way to do it.

Dear in the head light on this!

Thank in advance.

I installed a 100 dollar ebay kit for guy on a very limited budget, i was honestly super surprised. I was expecting a totally craptastic plastic pos kit, it was the opposite. Well built. Sinister style kit with the new up pipe and cooler bypass. Im not saying every cheap kit is good, but the particular one he got, i had no complaints.

I kinda like this one

IPR GEN2 EGR Delete Kit for all 2003-2004 Ford Powerstroke 6.0 will fit F250, F350, F450

But haven't had any issue with my Sinister deleate

Here is a GOOD Reason to Deleate see all the soot from the Exhaust Leak on this engine

Well that's what the Inside the Engine looks like with an EGR LOL All the Intake and sensors ect......... YUCK!!!

Thanks Snowseeker

The thing about deleting the EGR system is that it is illegal for on road use.

As far as doing it, there are many options out there. A freeze plug welded in a known good EGR cooler is the cheapest way to go. If the EGR cooler is suspect though, the possibility of leaking coolant into the intake exists. By welding in the freeze plug and keeping the factory up pipe, you have a "sneaky delete" which means it looks stock. Your truck will throw codes for EGR flow though, so you will need a tuner to turn off the EGR valve. That is another $400.

For less than that, a BPD EGR cooler can be had with a lifetime warranty. Your truck, your choice.

As far as causing damage, a leaking EGR cooler can damage your engine, but a fully functional system should not cause any damage with proper monitoring and usage.

A freeze plug doesn't hold up very long on the exhaust side, better to use a 3/16" to 3/8" plug.

Stealth delete is in my opinion the best way to go.

This is the kit I put on my truck. Up pipe was well built with nice heavy flanges. Hardware was stainless.
The j pipe was welded to the flange for a no leak one piece design. O rings were a nice tight fit.
It came with good quality silicone hose that you trim to fit.
Hose clamps were absolute crap. I bought different hose clamps.
With that said, I paid $130 for it a little over a year ago, so it looks like they have came down in price.
No problems with it to this day so I would recommend it.

Of course that IPR gen 2 kit gets rid of the hose, so even less chance of leakage.

My 05 does not throw a CEL.

Ok exhaust is dirty, we all know that.

This engine obviously couldn't have been running very well with that kind of a leak. Even a small leak can cause lack of boost, severe loss of power and incomplete combustion of fuel making the exhaust even dirtier.

Where was the leak anyway, the whole side of the engine is covered.
