So for those of you who don't know I am going to attempt an 08 Dash swap in my 04. I was going to deal with my 04 cluster for a little while until i get everything figured out then try and get an 08 style cluster to work. I was looking at the US speedo custom cluster layouts and the one i want is only available for the diesel clusters. I was comparing the 04 gas and diesel clusters based on pictures and the only difference (besides some idiot lights that were not visible) was the tach stopped at 5k on the diesel vs 6k on the gas one. This is the same on the 08 cluster except the 08 cluster has a boost gauge as well. So my question is if i swapped say the 04 diesel cluster into my 5.4l truck would the tach be accurate or off some? also would any idiot lights be on (glow plugs etc)? If the tach is going to be accurate then is it possible to swap an 08 diesel cluster in and just not have a functioning boost gauge? I know its more involved but i plan to do a cummins swap so then i could hook up the factory boost gauge if possible.

Anyone have any idea? What about the tach? will the tach read accurately if it stops at 5k on a diesel truck and i put it in my gasser?
