6.4L EGT Sensors will not fit 6.7s!

After a discussion came up a while back about the 6.4L sensors fitting the 6.7L, I went on the information given by a Ford dealer that they were the same sensors. THE ARE NOT THE SAME! The sensors for the 6.7L have a SQUARE connector and the 6.4s have a round one. Everything else appears to be the same. Length, coating, size, and threads are all the same, just the electrical connector is different. My dealer took my 3 6.4 sensors in and gave me 3 6.7s at no charge since they are the same price. Maybe if you have one or two, your dealer may do the same if the packages are still sealed. Here is a pic of the correct part number to the 6.7L sensor.

It is not just on ambulance conversions! Read the threads. Several members here have already had their trucks shut down because of number 4, however when I was in the dealer talking about this, the diesel tech had one two weeks ago that shut down because of number two! It was a first for them as well and it was a '13 F250 with under 30k miles. That is the second time I've heard if number two shutting a truck down. The first time was a friend of mine from right here in GA. That is why his is now deleted. Next time someone tells us they had. a shutdown, we need to get them to find out which sensor it was. The best bet would be number 4 but who knows.

I don't know...I never replaced a sensor in my 6.4.

I can understand having a spare though.

Pretty much any can show problems. On 6.4s, 2 and 3 have had problems with the connectors. Much of the time I've just had to use dielectric compond and a large shrink tube.

This thread was not talking about the recall..several of us carry spare sensors so we aren't stranded on the side of a road in GOD KNOWS WHERE when one of them goes bad. I've posted in the thread about the ambulances. This thread was due to a discussion about whether the 6.4 sensors would fit a 6.7. So, I got some new ones and compared.

I believe the point is that Ford is covering the fix on their nickel to replace these sensors on ambulances. Everyone else is SOL if it happens to them while on the road. Hence the reason to carry a spare/s.

I'm wondering if the Sensors that are to be replaced on the ambulances are going to be more reliable? If so, then maybe it would be better to upgrade your truck while it's on your driveway rather than on the side of the road.
