I very recently have begun to have some difficulty filling my fuel tanks. On Friday I went to fill up and the rear only filled up to about 3/4 of the way because the pump kept stopping itself no matter how I positioned it. Then when I went to fill the front it started gushing out of the filler hole. The pump wouldn't stop on its own on the front tank but it would for the rear. I thought there could not be more than 1/4 in the front tank and that is what the gauge read so I began to think maybe it had something to do with the check valve recall issues that I've been recently reading about or the gauge was busted.

I ran the front tank to empty and only got about 50 miles so I'm guessing it was not taking fuel from the rear tank. Today the rear tank would not let me put more than 3/4 (according to the gauge) in either due to the same issue I had on Friday.

I am also getting a very strong fuel smell and have had the issues detailed in this tread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-start-up.html Since this tread I have changed the distributor, ignition coil, canister purge soleniod and replace the leaking capacitors in the PCM.

I plan to call Ford tomorrow to see if the recall items have been done tomorrow as I've only owned this truck for 6 months but do any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone.

 

does the vent tube that runs up with the filler neck have a kink or any kind of obstuctions maybe?Maybe you can try a different gas station.I'm thinkin' pump pressure mite be higher. Dunno.What was the recall for .I have a 92 F150 5.0 4x4. No problems with so far.
