1942 Ford 1/2 ton pick up

I would love to find out what my VIN# says about my 42 Ford My Vin # Starts with a 1GA and has 5 numbers after that ....If any one has any info please let me know!!! morty0071

Morty, the one 1G indicates you have a G series (90 HP) 6 cylinder model, since you have 5 digits as the other parts of the number, that puts you in the range for '42 model year production. What's odd is that you have an A, which would be passenger car. 1/2 ton Commercials were C, 1 tons were Y. Is this number found on the frame of your truck? It is always possible that the number was mis-stamped when the truck was built, they were had stamped one character at a time by somebody on the line.

Gary, Thanks for the info , now I must find the chasis # on the frame and see what it says...I know that my 42 is not a car ...Kinda makes me wonder....morty0071
