In my house, that had better be step 1, lol!

Hey everyone. Truck has been great. I trailered my newly completed Jeep on the gooseneck from Atlanta to Jasper, Tennessee. Roughly around 8-9klbs. It worked great. Well, after dropping the trailer and coming home last night, I got off the interstate at my exit and went to shift into neutral and it just died. Would not restart. It was running fine until then. Any ideas? It has plenty of fuel.

I have just purchased a 97 F250 with the 7.3L engine. Love it.. owner used a Rotella 15w40 non syn oil for years. Would it be ok to start using a Rotella synthetic oil now. It has a bunch of miles on it and isn't burning oil. Should I stay with what he was using. I've heard if you know what was being used one should stay with it. Your opinions would be appreciated.

No problem at all. But if you don't live in a very cold climate I'd stay with what works. The syn. is 5-40 in Rotella. Good luck with the truck, sounds like you got a real good deal.

I gotta say, after this long thread and all the questions, have you not learned anything yet? LOL C'mon man, the quys have repeatedly answered the same questions. Maybe read the No Start chart? I mean this thread is 23 pages and 3 years old. Maybe get some sort of code reader and start troubleshooting before asking the same simple questions? I dunno....JMO

IPR, IPR pigtail, CPS, voltage to injectors, batteries good or bad, fuel pump, UCVH, IDM, Fuse #22, fuel bowl heater wire, etc, etc, etc....look at the no start flow chart!

Thank you for the kind words. I'll keep them in mind for the future

But today, before I spend a bunch of money on parts, after reading for about two weeks, I've come to the conclusion that because my hpop has oil in it, that does not need to be replaced. But because my icp has oil all over it, that is probably the problem. Any thoughts? A lot of the info I've read is quite confusing due to multiple people saying opposite things. Any help would be great. Thanks.

The oil 'inside' of the plug is a problem.

I'm going to replace that then and see if it fixes my problem.

Oil in the icp is a problem. Best to replace it. If you unplug it the truck should run but the cel will come on. I've had a similar problem to yours due to an icp

I replaced the ICP, nothing. I am going out of town today so yesterday I sent it to a local diesel shop to look at it while I am gone. As soon it was getting pulled onto the rollback, it started gushing some nasty looking oil...so, something is very wrong because it just had an oil change less than 2,000 miles ago. I guess I will find out what is wrong in the next few days.

It was probably dirty, oily fuel rolling out of the valley when they pulled it up on the rollback. That's my guess, anyway.
