Footwell lamps?

Footwell lamps?
Posted this in the F-150 forum, as I think I may get more hits/info...
2006 Expy and I want to put LED lights in the footwells so when you open the door you get more light in the interior. As far as I can tell, the interior lights/door open get tripped from the door latch (as opposed to a pin switch on the older vehicles).
How would one go about tapping in to a circuit that would light a LED when the door is opened and shut off like the other interior (exterior mirror) lights? It has me a bit stumped.
In other words, is there a certain color wire coming from the door latch that I can use to illuminate the LED? Either a power or ground circuit.
Thanks for any ideas you can share...
