clutch pedal return

clutch pedal return
My clutch pedal on my 70 F350 does not return completely after I remove my foot from the pedal. It seems to get caught somewhere. I have to pull it back with the top of my foot.
I tried to lube the pivot points in the clutch linkage both in the cab and under the truck. The large spring under the dash appears to be OK and properly attached. The spring under the truck seems a bit lax. Does this spring have something to do with the pedal return?
Thanks, abe

the spring under the dash should (if you remove the linkage) hold the peddle up and, slam the peddle to the floor if you push it with the linkage off. this spring helps push the peddle down making the clutch easier to use. when the clutch is adjusted correctly. too much free play will leave the peddle below the point of the spring lifting the peddle to the top of the stroke. lengthen the rod under the truck a little at a time until the problem go's away.
