Allright guys, in a predicament here. Just took the truck to the shop to have it looked over, and this is the damage. What should I do, try to sell it, or keep it and pour money into it?

If the alternator was not charging the ALT light would be on and you most likely wouldn't have made it to the shop before the trucked died.

Just like a doctors opinion, go get another one, and do not show or tell the 2nd place what the 1st place found or said.
You might be in for a surprise....alot of the stuff looks like owner level work, and the place trying to make a buck off of you.
There is not a total in parts and estimated labor, I bet its huge.

Drive line/drive shaft u joints are easy to get to and change, front axle u joint are a little more complicated getting to but then it a a tap out and tap in.
Motor mounts are not impossible, even in the drive way. A second pair of hands make it alot easier.
Title change it now for 12.00 and tag it later.....if need be.
Holler at Curt/j20owner I bet he could help you with alot of it and what a great way to learn about hub bearing repack/front brakes while you are in the front end.

Ok.
I just called the guy back and asked what all needs to be done for it to pass inspections, he said it needs a rear view mirror (doesn't have one), windshield needs replaced (full of cracks), taillight replaced, tie rod replaced, ball joints replaced, then some other stuff....so I would have to do all of that just to even go register it...

It should/ does not have to be insp or tagged (licensed) to get the title changed over in your name. You can do a title change for 12.00 and tag/insurance it after you do the work and it can pass insp.
I have 3 or 4 vehicles that are titled in my name and have no tags, let alone insurance. They are just parts trucks in my name.

Hmm, didn't know that. How do I go about this.
He also said I could try and register it in Kansas because the inspections are less strict. My mom lives in KS, but I don't know how that would all work. Also he said I could go to a shop on Troost or Prospect (idk if you're familiar KCMO) and they don't care as much with inspections.

As far as a Kansas inspection all they do is check to make sure the VIN on the title matches the VIN on the dash and they also check the frame somewhere then ask for $20 cash.

sounds like any other old truck..just put it in your name for now.. unless it is a out of state title you shouldn't need a inspection.. the just prioritize the repairs and go to work.. best way to learn is get your hands greasy..
