When I worked for Home Depot I hated inventory time. We had to inventory everything in the tool rental. From sandpaper to teh rental tools to the tools in th shop.
We would do the majority of the inventory in the tool rental ourselves because of everything we kept there. I had several items we kept that could not be inventoried mainly some spare parts for tools we rented. I had Honda small engines in the overhead that were in great shape. Just the chipper and the tiller they came off of were trashed. Saved what I could to repair other stuff. Also kept sewer snake cables ( new ones only) for when someone would kink the steel cables.
It was Steve. The shop to repair the rental tools, ( I was one of the guys that did that by the way) had a small budget every month. Typically about 5% of what the toll rental brought in. So if the toll rental had a good month I had extra money to buy parts with. If it was a slow month I didnt have alot to play with. I usually tried to keep at least 2 of the big stuff on hand at any given time so I could use 1 and order a replacement and still be able to fix a tool if needed.
Have had that before Steve. The tool rental was the worst for the most part we would usually only have 3 people for the whole day working every day of the week. It would get busy at times.
