Its definately worth the wait Glenn. I couldn't find one around here and there is a Parker brass fitting plant 1/2 mile from my house. I decided I'd just build an adapter myself. It worked pretty well, but was not worth the effort or time spent. Just be patient and get the right stuff.

Henry Ford said something like, "If you find you need a machine and don't buy it, then in the end you'll find you've paid for it and don't have it."

When I get this fitting to be able to do a compression check, will it matter if I hook up the batteries and just use the starter relay to turn the motor over? I have the dash out for the sound proofing that I've been doing so the key will not work, LOL. I just don't want to connect the batteries and screw something up because every thing is unplugged from the dash. I don't need any more headaches, LOL

That should be fine Glenn. Just make sure you remove fuse #22.

OK, here is the deal. I'm about ready to throw this compression tester in the garbage and buy a good one. If you look at the pictures in this thread in the first post, this is exactly what I now have. Homemade Compression Adapter... - Diesel Bombers

I tried on #1, #3, & #5 and the needle with jump to 250 to 300 very fast and just as fast go back to zero. In the pictures there isn't a check valve to hold the pressure, on mine there isn't either. I would think there would be one some where. Is there suppose to be one by the pressure release button by the gauge?

I'm going to do a compression check even if I have to buy an expensive setup. grrrrrrrrrr

I hate that you're having all these problems with it Glenn. I've got some dough coming in this week, so guys should be getting parts soon. Just let me send you mine!

There should be something Glenn. The one I have for gas motors has a tire valve stem dealy thingy in the end of the hose/fitting that goes in the spark plug hole.

I just texted you, LOL. I'll text you back my address. I just want to understand why mine is working. Like I said, maybe there should be a check valve in the quick disconnect piece and mine doesn't. If it isn't that, I don't have any idea.

That's what I'm thinking Darin, the other pieces in the kit have check valves.

I have the same kit you do Glenn, and the fitting in the kit that has 1/8" pipe thread is the one I used to make my adapter, and it had a schrader valve in it.

Like just texted you Glenn, but I have the same thing that these guys are saying. Schraeder valves in the different stem pieces, if that makes sense.

Mine doesn't have a schrader valve in it

Edit: I wonder if I can use one of the other pieces and adapt it in there? I might try.

Is the valve just missing from that one piece? If so, just screw one out of one of the other pieces and put in that one.
