351W headers in a 1978 F250 4x4

I just had my buddy put a set of GT40 heads and a cam that Conanski recommended in the 351W that is in my truck. I figured that it would also be a good time to swap the headers since the ones in there are pretty rusty. After reading every thread I could find on this forum about 351W engines in a 'Dent it seems that nobody makes headers for these truck/engine combos. But my truck already had a set of headers. Albeit old and rusty, in it. Surely there has to be some application that works? A guy on eBay was selling a set of OBX headers that he guaranteed would fit. Heck, even the OBX website says they will fit. But they don't. Not even close. Here is a pic of the OBX header and the one that came out of the truck. Has anyone found a set that works? I would blast mine and have them coated, if I didn't think they would disintegrate.

This Hedman Header is the closest set I found that looks like what came out of my truck.

Those hedmans are for the 351M/400 not a 351W. Will a 302 set work?

Thanks for that clarification I've been scouring the Internet looking for images of 302/351 long tube headers (the ones in my truck are clearly long-tube) just to see if I can find something remotely close.

Theses are for an early Bronco with a 351W in it. A little closer.

What about using a set of shorty headers?

Dougs 302/351 shorty headers from Summit are the only ones I could find that fit my 78 f250 4x4 4speed. I've tried a lot of headers over the years and they were the only ones to fit. Maybe long tubes for a different application could work with a little heating and bending

Do you know which part number?

What's the performance difference between long tube and shorty headers?

Not sure of the part number. It was 6-7 years ago. It should only take a few minutes on summit's website to find

I called the tech line at Summit. They were a huge help. The headers that came off my truck are old Hooker headers. If you go on the Summit website, and type in 12502FLT, you will see the Flowmaster headers. Somebody bent the lower part of the tubes on mine for clearance issues, but these are definitely the headers that came off my truck.

When I told him it was a 1984 351W engine, he said he looked up headers for the year of the engine rather than the year of the truck and that's how he found these.

I am going to order these and will let everyone know how the install goes.

It was the Tech Line at Petronix that helped me, not at Summit. Fantastic customer service even though they don't carry the Flownaster headers!

Thanks a lot for posting what you found out BossFan
I was planning on swapping a 351W into my '79 F150 4x4 and until now I could never find a 100% answer for headers for this swap (besides expensive custom ones).
Reps sent!

Vadis,
I was doing more research and when I looked closer, the 12504FLT is closer (exact?) to what I have on my truck. The photos look exactly like what is on my truck. I am planning on ordering a set and will let you know how they fit.
