Thanks Shovel Monkey, that does ease my mind. It has 61000 miles on it and I have two driving styles. It depends on what kind of day I'm having.

Seems like we've got a lot of people that would complain if they were hanged with a new rope!

This is, bar none, the best all around vehicle I've ever owned. It rides nice, it's got lots of bells and whistles, pulls or carries everything I own, and seats 6 nicely or 4 very comfortably. Anybody that doesn't agree can ride in the bed!

I have a 2011, 6.2.
The trans brake thing is the braking system ...Yes Hill Assist. It detects the angle of incline the trucks sitting at and applies the brakes until the engine torque over takes it then turns off. Quite hair raising if you dont know its supposed to be there. Or your calipers are shot? Its actually pretty useful with a trailer on, in traffic. Read the owners manual it will explain it (a little more).

As for the trans, I shift mine manually more than not. It doesn't need to be in M to make this happen. Just use the +/- button on the shift handle. That way I can over-ride "big brother" and shift as I see fit. Not some tarded computers anti-freemans way of making the attempt...Careful to not down shift at speed(s).
Gawd...give me an analog automatic or manual trans ANY day over this electronic junk. That goes for this one and for the gas version of 5R110W. Though I do feel the 6R140 is by far a stouter trans. It feels better. Havent had it apart...yet.

1-2 is WAY too short. If you come to a rolling stop it bogs between 1 & 2 till it pulls its head out and figures it out...gah.... 1-2 just isn't nice. I dont know how anyone could plow with this truck allowing it to choose the gears. Now lets talk about passing gear(s) while in tow mode with a load on.... Christ it hangs out it 4th until I get uncomfortable and take off tow mode so I m not sweeping rods/crank off the pavement! The tach is way over towards the unsafe zone. I race so I know what an engine sounds like that needs another gear. Even when I let completely off the gas it still doesn't want to shift. Im seriously thinking about some kind of tune for the trans shift strategy...or lack of it. This is one of my only complaints with the 6.2/6R140. So I guess it aint so bad. Just manually shift and alls good.

Mines been custom tuned on a dyno and I'm very happy with my normal driving and tow/haul strategies. Of course it hunts sometimes it's got six gears to choose from. The tranny is a big part of what makes this gas pot a beast imo. I don't drive in manual mode very often, I'm always in 'D' and then just lock out a top gear or two if I feel the need.

Seems a bit harsh to imply someone trying to describe an odd transmission behavior should romance about suicide.

I love the truck, I just don't care about the feeling that I'm being rear ended when the transmission can't decide what gear to use. This entire thread is about that strange behavior. Isn't that what this forum is for? To learn and figure out how to work through these issues?
