Any lawyers on here? Need help asap

The guy I traded my old '80 for My '87, is now screaming about My former truck needing over 1700 in repairs. I drove it daily for close to a year with not one single problem. He wants Me to pay for the repairs. I told him that this was an AS-IS trade, and he agreed to this and understood this as we shook hands and swapped titles. So what can I do here?

Chances are, he will only take you to small claims court if he does anything at all. He won't likely bother getting a lawyer for it, because it would cost him more for a lawyer than he would get out of you, and its his word against yours. Unless it was in writing that it was a pristene vehicle, I don't think he has a case.
You also would spend more than the 1,700 dollars in your first conversation with a lawyer, they would want a retainer likely $2,000 or more to even say they would be your lawyer.
Way I see it, you got a couple of options. You either make a friend with this guy and see if you can work it out civilly, (which from some of your blasting texts, seems like its going to be a real challenge for you) Or you could offer to trade the trucks back again, to make things right, or you could complain about the gas guage not working in your truck and whatever else is wrong with the truck is going to cost you just as much to fix to make it right. Either way.. getting a lawyer is not likely an option with as much as you talk about not being able to afford to drive to Emporia for a Christmas party.

I agreed to pay for the parts he claims it needs, and make small payments to him. I guess as-is don't mean a d@mn thing anymore

Curtis's advice is good about not getting a lawyer involved. Unless you knowingly mis-represented the condition he probably doesn't have much of a case, but he could still take you to small claims. Anyone can sue.

If you told him something like, "The engine is in great shape." but you had to add oil every 100 miles then he probably has a case.

You shouldn't have offered anything. Tell him to **** up a rope. You sold/trade/exchanged vehicles AS-IS.

Except for this post of which you must have forgotten:

"Parking Mine temporarily due to it stalling without warning after warming up. Gonna look at things when it is cooler in the evening"

Didn't it have a sticking brake caliper that you couldn't figure out too?

I would offer a little back in parts to make the other guy happy and get him off your back but I would also definitely complain on how "not perfect" your trade from him was also

That was a defective coil, had it fixed and running in 10 minutes

Replaced both calipers, just had air lock on one of them. they were working as intended when I traded.

My '87 needs new radiator, both in tank fuel pumps replaced, dash wiring worked on(no instrument panel lights, keeps poping fuses), both power window motors replaced. So it was far from perfect. The parts he says it needs, (king pins and bushings, tie rod ends, and brake booster) I told him I would get money for those, but not one cent more. So I think we have it worked out

Why don't you take your new '87 to a mechanic and have him give you a list of the things that need fixing on it. Do Not tell him why. Then make a list of the parts, with pricing, give it to him and tell him that he needs to pay for those parts since you are paying for the ones that his truck needs. If he says no, and wants to take you to court, let him... You have a list too. Chances would be pretty good that the judge would laugh and throw it out. Oh yeah, and since he would be the one taking you to court, he would end up having to pay for the court costs.

My 87 will need $439 in parts to fix what is wrong. I have worked something out, and we have it straightened it all out
