Careful about parking under canopies....

I had just washed my truck and detailed it with a new nano tech wax sealant for extra Winter protection. It then started to rain and I decided to put it under the canopy to keep it dry (this is where my girlfriend rolls her eyes and laughs).... Then a brief wind storm, now i am begging insurance to cover ignorance.....

Think about the truck under this..... It raised up scratching all sides as it went up and then pounded back down. It played pin ball on the hood and just beat the crud out of it. Granted the scratches are hard to see due to the awesome reflective qualities -lol.... Not really laughing but the scratches are very deep and long and all over the truck. It pounded it over and over before I was able to frantically move it.

I might ask how windy was it!?!? Thats some weight depending on how many railroad ties!

High desert of oregon, occasional gusts of 60+ but 20 to 30 MPH is common.

I lose shingles at least once a year, not on the windy side of the house but on the opposite side. The wind gets going so fast it creates a low pressure on the leeward side of the roof and pulls of a few shingles now and then.

Oh and 2 1/2 RR ties down each side and they where staked in to the ground with 24" of rebar pounded in to the ground.

for the OP, Insurance shouldnt give you any trouble, thats legitimate damage and was not intentional. I am wondering though....home owners or auto? I think a case could be made for either to cover it.

I figured it would have to be pretty windy to do that with railroad ties attached to it, then again ive seen big tents ,that were secured fairly well, here in michigan get blown across a football field in 15mph winds

in 91 we had a one car garage that housed a small fire truck. A small tornado picked up the garage and set the truck on top of it. Fire chief drove it off the next day. Wind is powerful!

damn. right after a good waxing.

this kinda happened to my corrado. my car got dusted and the car cover sanded off my clear coat.

not as bad as my neighbor though, poor guy hits an animal one night with his beautiful b5 passat wagon (he is also a powerstroke owner) in a rain storm and it tears up some $$ stuff & uber rare dtm kruez wheels. gets it fixed and repainted

a month later, a part of a tree falls on it & his 44 flat fender ford jeep rockcrawler. it has crushed him. literally. he drives his truck alot more now & has trimmed down alot of the trees around his house.
