PLEASE HELP! 5.4 04' rough idle, CEL, out of ideas, mechanic out of ideas

I have an 04' 5.4l 3v with 85k on it, just the other day the CEL came on, idles rough, cuts off when in gear and at a stop after a minute or 2, slow to come down on rpms, almost seems to hold at 1100 when in gear. mechanics dont know, dropped the exhaust before the cats and ran it, same issue so I dont think its the cats out of ideas. need help

okay I caved in and took it to the dealer, pulled the codes, P0171 and P0174, turnd out a vaccum hose on the back of my intake manifold has blown off, so he says. a simple fix but near impossible to get to. so I took the truck home and am going to do it myself, waiting on it to cool down now.

and words of wisdom to pulling off the fuel rail?

You can get to it from under the truck. That's how the recall hose is put on.

Timt72, thats in way over my head bud, not to say I couldnt do it but I didnt anywhere near that deep into it. Luckily I figured out that my issue was a simple vacuum leak. there is a vacuum line that goes on the back of the intake man. it is a single connection that 2 lines run off of, the two lines split and go to each bank but there is also another connection before it gets there, maybe you have a leak on one side unlike mine where the main fitting came off causing both sides to be lean. may be worth looking into. if you havent yet. If I can better explain whit line I am talking about let me know. good luck!
