stage 1 cost

Got told it was around 4 k to do stage 1's at a local shop here in Washington state. Lets assume I use rosewood injectors and they are premium build. Should labor be. 3k? I'm not sure I want to do this by myself. Any info or opinions would be great. Oh I have the new php tuner so customs tunes should be no issue. Aso have intake, exhaust, and 3.5" downpipe.

No. Not even close. Those guys are taking you for a ride. There are plenty of write-ups on how to do this yourself if you're so inclined. If not, I wouldn't expect a shop to charge more than about $500 for this, but I'm sort of out of touch with shop rates on this kind of thing.

That's what I was thinking. I'm not sure if I want to do it myself. Seems like I could screw it up.

Where are you located? Someone may know of a good shop nearby.

Man I'm in the wrong business! I'd do them all day long for that price! Lol.

Seriously OP, it's not bad. No special tools and an afternoon and it can be done.

I know of a guy in the Portland area who I bet would do it for much cheaper if you're willing to drive. I dont know his rates but if you're supplying the injectors I cant see it being much more than $500 worth of labor.

If you were in BC. I could give a hand. Takes a couple hours. The write ups are very good.

Thanks for the info. It looks like I could do this. I tow about 10k right know and can get to 1200 up steep grades with the php hydra chip. How will the stage 1 affect this?

Your EGTs will still be able to get that high, but with stage 1s the truck wont have to work as hard on the incline and you should see improvement.

More fuel = Higher EGT's. No way around that. With stage I's you're going to have more power all around, but you will find yourself backing out of it due to EGT's. It sounds like you're close to that now, honestly. The solution to EGT's in your case is to do an intercooler. And if you're towing with Stage 1 injectors, you will want to do that to be able to put all those ponies to use. Otherwise, you can adjust them back with the tunes, but you're not putting all the power on tap to the ground.
