▄▀▄___HID Headlight Kits___ ▄▀▄
◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢◤◢
I am wanting to install a set of HID headlights in the Super Duty. After searching around both online and at the local retailers I am more confused than when I started. I know there are inferior kits being sold that may or may not even work when you open the box. And everyone says "make sure you buy a good set". Well I have not yet been able to determine how to distinguish the GOOD KITS from the BAD KITS ??????
I'm sure it's not price alone and even the brand names don't mean a thing.
So maybe some of you have already installed and are having good luck with the choice you made. I would appreciate any direction, website, store, etc. on where to get a quality reliable HID kit. I am looking for preferably a 4300K or 4500K as I want the whitest and brightest white beam. Also, I have read that the 55w ballasts are more powerful than the 35w. Some places don't know the wattage of the ballasts they are selling!

I'm also looking for a set for my F150. I had a 55W dual beam setup on my Mustang from DDMtuning.com and it worked great. I am considering trying them again. Try reading some reviews on them and check out their site to see what you think. The only negative I could say was it took me about 3 weeks to get them in the mail. But it was an easy install and was plug and play for the most part. And they looked awesome.

The 4300K give you a bit more yellow in the light.
BUT the human eye sees yellow better then the blue.
I run on my 2006 F350 55W 4300K bi-zenon
One thing is go AC for the power the DC ones
don't seems to last that long. The other thing is the cheap
kits tend to not have the electrical filtering and if you like
to listed to traffic radio on the AM you can forget that with
the cheap ones. I run 35W 3000K in my fog lights and if I
needed to I could drive by them they light the road that well.
Here is a shot with my iPhone. It shifted the lamp color
Here you have high beam and fog lights on
Low beam only
Going down the street low beam only.
When you pick your kit and install it take your time and tuck things in so the wires don't dangle.
The at night get the instructions for setting the headlight aim and re-aim you lights. You may
find that once you have them set you will need to drop them just a little so that you don't
overload on coming trafic. I have mine pointed down just a bit and I really don't use the high
beam setting anymore anyway.
One last thing here is a Kelvin color chart. The K number has nothing to do with the brightness.
And the human eye is best adapted for a yellow light like our sun. Blue look cool but try driving
with them in the rain.
Good luck
Sean

What year is your superduty. I have a 2012 and put a brightsource kit in it. Easy to install and works awesome.....but. I am blinding oncoming drivers. I lowered them till they were pointing at the ground in front of the truck and am still getting highbeamed by oncoming drivers. I am now looking for projector headlight housings to hopefully direct all this light a bit better. I do lots of night driving and they sure do make it easier.

I use DDM HIDs for almost everything, including my dirt bikes. The bulbs lasted about 5-6 years on a daily driver with 55-watt ballats. I just spent $15 on a spare set so I don't have to have no lights while waiting for warranty.

I just had to replace a set of fog lamps that were
pushing 5~6 years old. They were still putting out
a good light level and color. One of the lamps blew
and left hot glass to clean up in the foglight housing.
Not the cheap ones from China. I hit the local shop
and will have to see how they hold up. They did say
made in China this time

I find most HIDs should be placed in projectors especially at certain vehicles height. Then again if you don't mind blinding everyone then go for it. Have you thought about going LEDs instead? It has more direct beam and less light dispersion compared to HIDs.
Check some of our kits out and see if there is anything we could assist you with from our site?

reviving an old thread here but I mistakenly, said in another post I can't find, bought the Recon housings and their HID's simply put are horrible. Does anyone know a good set of low and high beams I can replace them with or who to call on for this knowledge? On this kit the low beams are projectors and high beams are not although there is no ballast HID in the high beam installed.
