Painting interior
96 F-150 XLT single cab... I'm trying to make everything black, carpet, headliner, dash, trim, glove box, except for the door panels, that would be hard with all of the different materials..
I wanna know what I need to use and do as far as prep work to paint the dash and glove box and all that good stuff...
Right now my dash and everything is plasti-dipped.. Doesn't really look to bad but it's a PITA to clean, and when it gets knicked or scratched it starts peeling away...
I might just buy a cloth dashpad from LMC (anyone had one) and lastly LMC offers a headliner that has speakers and a storage compartment Truck Parts and Truck Accessories and what are they referring to when they say with and without factory headliner?
As most of you know thru the "F-150 w/Blackeye comeback" thread I'm rebuilding/restoring my truck so right now it's on blocks, so this is perfect time for me to do this as it won't be driven for awhile..
Thanks in advance for the help, Logan "FYG35"

'm doing the same thing and I have always used color bond paint. All i did was clean the parts and then spray them. Some arts like the kick panels the paint doesn't stick to though so it would be beneficial to first clean the parts with soapy water and then spray them with duplicolor adhesion promoter (2 coats) and then 3-4 coats of your colored paint. Let it dry for a half hour between each coat and you'll be golden. I pulled down my headliner and got a suede headliner kit off Ebay in black and just recovered it. For the visors ill probably just buy LMC black ones and for the carpet jeffs bronco graveyard has replacement carpets for $175 in many colors.

painting plastic is all about the prep. ive been told to use windex, the ammonia does something to clean the plastic, and wipe with rubbing alcohol, follow with a couple coats of adhesion promoter, plastic and fabric paint, and give it a few days to fully cure. I smothered it then in armorall. I did not sand the SD dome light I painted, since the plastic was not chalked. if you can buy something in black, it may work better, but good plastic can be painted, and it will last a while when done correctly.

So my kick panels can I just wipe them down with alcohol and spray em? do I HAVE to have that adhesive?

yah looking at my interior I forgot I peeled it off of my glove box and I think it looks good as it is right now, I just need to re do it all with actual paint and do it right.. cause all of my a pillar trim is grey and the trim around the headliner is grey too, so I think that will make my black headliner and black carpet pop
