So we recently picked up a 2007 expedition eddie bauer due to our growing family size. It has remote start, which I believe to be either a factory option or installed at a dealership after purchase, the back of the key fob has fomoco name and a ford part #, however, there is this led light and button just to the right left of the instrument cluster, which looks to be aftermarket. anybody have a clue as to what it is and if it's related to the remote start? I've never seen the led flash and have never pushed the button. thanks!
nobody? also, there is is buttons 1 and 2 on the fob, #2 does the rear hatch, #1 doesn't seem to do anything? anybody else know what #1 does, or if it can be programmed? I thought maybe it would unlock the rear glass, but doesn't.
Yup that's a factory remote start fob. That model includes security system too so that might explain the LED and possibly the valet switch. The #1 and #2 buttons are programmable. I may have the programming manual somewhere on my computer. I will check when I get a chance.
Bunky383,
Send me a PM with your email and I will send you that remote start owners manual as a pdf.
By the way, the LED and button on the dash are part of the system. It's there incase you lose the remote you can still start the vehicle. The manual will explain.
so i read through the manual, was curious about what the climate control would do based on ambient temps. (my GM obsessed brother in law raves about how his vehicles default to full heat/activate heated seats or full a/c depending on outside temps) it appears the manual states you have to preset the climate control to what you want the temperature settings to be when activating by remote start, but doesn't say anything about the heated/cooled seat functions, as they always seem to default to off with every ignition cycle. any experience with that matt?
