51-52 F-1 teeth

I was quoted $300 to have the three teeth chromed.

Does anybody sell repops already chromed? $300 seemed like a lot to do 3 small pieces.

I'd consider that a bargain price.

Yeah if the quality is good thats a smokin deal. I had my '52 dash trim (2 pieces) and wiper bezels done it was $120. That was several years ago too.

To my knowledge, no one re-pops grilles or teeth.....

Was thinking about having it jet-hot ceramic coated instead... idk. Nothing looks as good as chrome.

Let me ask the manure spreader guys a question--I might have dreamed this, but aren't the teeth specific to their location in the grill (without having to be modified)? In other words, doesn't the right one have to stay on the right, middle stays in the middle, etc. when you re-assemble that grill? Or am I just hallucinating again?

Pics show three specific basic part numbers. The right (8160) is different from the center (8156), different from the left (8161).

Yes, as Bill has pointed out (no pun intended), the teeth are specific to the sides and center and cannot be interchanged.

In my discussion with Chuck (Chuck's Trucks), I mention that perhaps DC should consider reproducing the 51-52 grille, or at least the teeth. If a monkey face grille can be reproduced, then can a manure spreader.

They look the same, but looks can be deceiving and some people, especially ebay sellers haven't a clue.

If you find a complete grille, be aware there are TWO different types. Notice the parts pics in post #7 say: EXCEPT MODEL J

If you buy a grille for an F-3 Parcel Delivery (Model J), the teeth are the same as F series, but the grille won't fit anything else.

This is the same for parcel deliveries made in 55 and up. Parcel trucks used the same grille for years. I Once found an almost mint 55 grille in the back of a parcel delivery in my favorite junk yard in central PA. Most stuff found in junk yards here is pretty rusted. I was selling parts at Carlisle at the time so it would bring me some nice money. It sold easily but the guy that bought it brought it back saying it was the wrong size. I measured it, then measured the grille on my 54 and he was right.... I did sell the grille for a guy that was using it for garage art... so buyer beware!

Maybe jet hot coating would be fine for the grill, I have only heard about it for headers and nothing good. I painted my Dagmars black, but may get them chromed later. I wonder if you can get a Bra for them to keep the bugs off.
