But, if there's no heater, would the 'elephant trunk' just lead to the right cowl panel? That's what it does on the cars that also have a left vent.

No, there is no tube to the front unless there is a Fresh Air heater. The panel in the kick panel is punched but in place.

What do you mean by a "vent"? The pop-up cowl vent?

I am looking for the piece that connects to the metal behinde the kick panel. Not sure what it is.
