OK, ok.....
...so it might have been a slight exaggeration. You know how it is, the older you get, the faster you went.
All I know is that screaming down the hill with dust in your eyes and the wind trying to pull your eyelids back up over the top of your head it HAD to have been close to Mach 8.....just HAD to have been......

Never bought a new store-bought nail when I was a kid. And wasn't that Art Afrons at the wheel of the Green Monster? If I could remember how to post a link it might be to Alan Jackson's 'When Daddy let me Drive', I guess we are just a bunch of old timers living in the past, but we don't have a gas station to hang around in the back of we have reverted to cyber space. Works for me, this has been really fun.

Finally figured out how I wanted to secure my recycled bed wood. I wanted to be able to install the bolts from the top side only. Also went the cheap route on the gas door. Gonna use a magnet to hold it shut.
Since I'm running a 400 sbc I needed to do my best to keep it cool. So I spent a lot of time with poster board coming up with some sort of fan shroud. I owe my friends many thanks for the scraps of stainless sheet metal they donated to me. I've used it in a lot of places in my build. After I murdered a bunch of poster board, I came up with a stainless shroud that I think is going to help keep the engine cool. Now all I've got to do is take it back apart and smooth all the rough edges and spend a little time at the buffer

I had looked at some of the aftermarket gas doors and fillers and decided to go to the salvage yard, picked up a 98 Suburban filler neck and cap for 5-6 bucks and just used some of my salvaged barn wood to make the door. The flames were just some scrap walnut that was cut on a scroll saw and shaped with my die grinder. Including the piano hinge, I've got less than $15 in it. Now time wise.......that's another story. But time is something I've got more of.

I know this isn't hotrod stuff but none the less a fun project. I had a vision that i needed an outside bar so I asked my B-I-L if he was interested in carving some telephone poles on Easter weekend. A little friendly chainsaw competition. One thing lead to the next to the next and nect thing you know i'm ordering bamboo and thatch from San Diago (i live in Alberta). Here's what I've completed so far:
