7.3 died while driving wont start

Hey guys, im new on here, not sure if this is where i should post, but here goes.... 2001 7.3 driving down the freeway died like someone turned off the key. now it wont start. changed the cps, checked fuel pressure, it was at 18 psi, replaced pump, now its at 62 psi, still no start...all fuses are good, has power and fuel to injectors, but not putting out any smoke/raw fuel from the exhaust. idm and valve cover gasket/harness replaced three weeks ago. wts and ses lights do come on at key on. I dont have access to a scantool that will read the idm...any suggestions? Thanks

Make sure oil level is good. Try starting with ICP sensor disconnected. Also could try cycling the key a few times to re-pressurize fuel rail, you might have too much air in there after your pump died.

Tried with the icp disconnected, no go, oil level good in both the crankcase and hpop. I cycled the key on and off at about 45 sec intervals for about 10 mins

Is there a way to bleed the rail without taking the valve covers off?

I kinda mis-spoke. If you dont have a regulated return fuel system the air can't get out except though the injectors. So you would actually have to turn it over repeatedly to get the air out. Assuming that's your problem. When I had air in my system that's what I had to do to get it started. Although it did drain the batteries quite a bit so have a charger handy if you have one. Also don't turn it over so much too fast that you destroy your starter.

Ya it'd be nice if you could scan HPOP / Ipr while your cranking :-/

it has been using a lot of oil lately...no puddles under it yet but the intake manifold has a puddle of oil on top of it

In that case I would check all your HPOP lines and find the one that is leaking.

Good luck to you. I hope someone with more ideas than me spots this. I think your gonna need to find someone with a scanner though. Those codes could make this a really easy fix.

check to see if the tin nut on the ipr is still on. if its off or loose it will not start.

Also check fuse # 29 or 30. if the fuel heater shorts out it will blow the fuse. That fuse also runs the PCM. if it is, unplug the fuel heater and see if it pops the fuse again. if it dose you may have a known short. on the driver side valve cover there is a big plug we call the 42 pin plug. the lower wires on that plug rub against the valve cover and that wire happens to be the first wire too short out and blow the fuse..
